It is rather lovely having so many geese at the moment (8 out of the 13 here) – there is safety in numbers for a start and we are as sure as we can be that as a group of 13 they are pretty fox proof. They have been staying out at night for several weeks now and have not always had the alpacas in with them.
We also love seeing them having their communal run and flap moments which they do at least twice a day – a couple of the young ganders even managed a bit of height a few days ago, helped by the slight slope downhill of the field giving them a bit of a ‘lift’!! We would really like to sell the remaining young ganders, but failing that, we do (sadly) have Stephen, our poultry dispatch man, booked in for early next month!!!
