More poults
As our own turkey eggs continue to disappoint, today we picked up half a dozen Bourbon Red day old poults. Their presence is two-fold: firstly because we want to have a few poults for the freezer as well as for the sheer joy of bringing them up but also because we now need a new stag for next year… alas, Edward is no more. Jack has had one peck too many and it was getting very tiresome having to fend him off every time we went anywhere near the poultry area.
Relaxed at Home
His fertility wasn’t great for a young bird either – around 50% - it seemed he was more interested in asserting his dominance over Jack (or trying to) than getting up close and personal with the girls.
We are of course now male-less till next year but we no longer seem to be getting any eggs anyway, so this isn’t actually an issue!
Afternoon corm time was sooooo much more relaxed!!
