All change
Yesterday's turkey egg was laid in with the goose eggs in the goose stall: not helpful, we cannot have the two sets of birds sharing at all as it is more than likely the turkeys will send the geese packing. We are anxious to get more of both sorts of eggs so tonight we moved the geese into the now empty old barn, complete with loads of deep straw and outside access to lot of fresh, un-grazed grass. The move will definitely put the birds off laying for a few days but we very much hope they will resume and then have zero interruptions. The turkeys meanwhile will have full access to the goose stall, henceforth called the turkey stall and fingers crossed, their egg laying will go up!
Relaxed at Home
It's quite a juggling act, sorting all these birds' breeding programmes... we are lucky to have the space to be able to move things around like this – our new barn build really has given us so much more flexibility.
The image is of a very proud looking Sylvester who this evening was not at all happy to be moved.... hopefully when he and the others see all the fresh grass in the morning, they will be somewhat mollified.
