Rich pickings in the compost heap
Row's chicks are now just over four weeks old and so we yesterday we decided to let them all out of the aviary and let mum introduce then to the wonderful world of free ranging. Within minutes Row took them outside though the pop hole but then after a short while headed back inside to rake through all the straw in the main broody stall.
Relaxed at Home
It didn't take her long however to decide that outside did indeed offer more rich pickings and by mid afternoon she and her family had found their way to the compost heap and were happily digging and scratching and finding all sorts to eat.
The ground continues to get less muddy and we are now not only promised dry but also sun!! We are just not going to know ourselves...
If it carries on like this we may even consider putting the cows back out!!!
