Cold, crisp and quiet
The weather today was about as perfect as it could be for mid December: cold, crisp - we are resisting the temptation to write ‘even’ and instead, let’s choose 'quiet'!! No strong winds or patter of rain or endless chatter of the rooks in the fields below us. Not that we mind the rooks and in general they don’t really head up our way anyway, not in any numbers that is.
Relaxed at Home
We had a few frozen drinkers, but only mildy so and a bit of white frost first thing. And the ground was partially frozen in places which made wheeling the barrow and driving the muck truck so much easier and better for the land.
The views were, as ever, inspiring. We love our tree lines with their familiar and comforting gaps, we love the greens and the browns, we love looking out and realizing we live here – and, we hope, will continue to do so until old age and lack of wisdom decree we don’t!!!!
Tomorrow we see a return to the wet and the wind and the opportunity to see how well our wall of straw holds out at the back of the new barn!! Fingers crossed…
