TB-Free!!!
Yay!! We are TB-free!! So now we can truely celebrate and also keep our fingers crossed the pregnancies continue well for all three of the females. In a slightly scary moment, Graeme announced that the two lumps on Thyme’s neck were in fact the same size!! The top lump is the Avain TB injection and the bottom the Bovine one and the idea is that as long as the Bovine lump isn’t bigger than the Avian one, the cow won’t have Bovine TB. There is a ‘margin or error’ of course and in fact bigger by up to 4mm (allowing for the original thickness of the skin), is deemed inconclusive and a retest is then authorized. Being the same size rates as ‘clear’ though so in our case we are okay!!
Relaxed at Home
We asked Graeme what might have caused the swelling in both injection sites and he wondered about the rhea and whether they might carrying a bit of Avian TB that had caused a cross reaction!!
