Happy goats
The goats definitely like the new barn. At night we have been giving them access to their usual stalls inside the main barn AND the back of the new barn as well and it seems that both are equally favoured now. Goats are creatures of habit that don’t always like change and at first when we stopped giving them access at the front, there was a lot of shouting.
Relaxed at Home
Things are quieter now - apart from when they want feeding that is - and tonight we decided to ‘only’ give them the new barn for the night. It will mean less mucking out for us in the morning, well, same amount of poo but in a smaller area, and unless we have wind direct from the north or north west (which is unusual), it will be just as sheltered for them.
At the moment we are using hurdles as temporary barriers - until we are totally sure about how we want to lay things out, this is the best way.
We popped back after dark to check on them all and were greeted by the happy sounds of hay munching and chewing the cud!!! Happy goats = happy humans.
