Queenie and the poults
Queenie now has her own set of chicks to look after in the form of these four adorable turkey poults. To be honest, it's a miracle they have hatched at all. They are from a larger set of around a dozen plus eggs that were laid in the pig arc by Napoleona and Victoria (we think) and that were passed from pillar to post as the two of them fought over them all. The odd one or two kept getting crushed so in the end we removed what was left (round 8) and stuck them under Quennie and another broody back in the stables. Four turned out to be fertile and growing and so we left them with Queenie. Trouble was that we then had the other broody plus a third broody and then Napoleona herself, all still trying to muscle in on the act. Ecah night we made sure that it was Queenie who spent the night on them and then the day before they were due, we scooped Queenie and the eggs up into a bsket and put them all in the stable store to hatch out in peace!
Relaxed at Home
Seeing all four has hatched was just fabulous and we are now looking forward to the stage, in a mere four to five weeks when the poults are as big as their mum!!!!
