More goslings
We managed to get five goslings from our latest hatch: three males and two females! These were from a set of 12 eggs, nine of which were fertile and grew. As per our diary from 1st, we had given the eggs to two Indian Game broodies a few days before they were due to hatch, very nervously we might add.
Relaxed at Home
Indian Game Number One hatched four of her five whilst Indian Game Number Two only managed one of her four but we made the decision to give this single boy to 'Number One' and set Number Two up with some different eggs instead.
We also made the decision to move the family of six to the barn broody stall, away from Number Two as she is quite ferocious and we didn't want her getting aggressive with the goslings at all. This is the same broody who attacked Gloria last week so we know what she can be like. She raised chicks for us last year and is fine with her own – it's just other people's that 'annoy her'.
Sadly, her gosling didn't actually make it, he was rather weak when he hatched and whilst he got through his first night, being out and about in the stall obviously didn’t suit him!! A real shame!!
