Poor Gloria!
Staying with our geese, we had a bit of a disaster today...First thing, we had Gloria with us in the poultry area as normal, and were marveling at how independent she was getting as she merrily waddled off into the middle of the paddock to eat grass when suddenly, out of nowhere, one of the IG broodies appeared and attacked her!! The broody had come out to eat and drink but for some reason had decided to turn to her left and race a good ten/fifteen metres over to where Gloria was grazing and have a go. The photo is Gloria AFTER the attack and back at the house so she is okay but she has a gash on top of her head, one on her neck and one ‘just' below her left eye!
Wedo know that the broody would have killed her if allowed to continue...
Relaxed at Home
Gloria was pretty shaken up and she went cold from the shock but touch wood, she has recovered well and is currently asleep against Jack’s arm as she types… The only good news to come from this is that we feel a bit more confident the broody might just see off a rat or two if she has to!!
Lambing, kidding and calving all feel so much easier... talking of which, Mrs W, now on day 158, is still showing no signs of popping out her lambs and Onion has joined the ranks cos she was due today too!!!
