Our first lambs
Our first task this morning was to go and check on Pebble’s kids but instead our attention was grabbed by the sight of these two out on the woodchip path!!! With amazement we realized one of the ewes had lambed, and, as with Pebbles, this was another early birth. It turned out to be Muckle and she was also three days early!!!

In so many ways missing the births like this and simply finding healthy youngsters, is the best way. We have none of the worry and yet get the same thrill at welcoming new lives! And having seen a fair few births over the years, it is not a problem that we miss out!
These two are a bonny pair: we have one male and one female, pretty similar in size with the girl having more paler colouring. Muckle is as good a mum as she was last year, very milky and very attentive. She had obvioulsy given birth in the field shelter but by early evening, she was down at the bottom of the 3-acre, lambs in tow, having a great feed.
We can now officially announce that both kidding and lambing have now begun!!!
