Getting close!!
Pebbles is now just a week (ish) away from kidding and bless her, she is spending a lot of time laying down and groaning!! She isn’t massively huge although her udder is but her right side is feeling quite tight! She is still enjoying her food and is not yet at the stage where she wants to be apart from the others. Having never kidded her before, we are not tuned in to her individual signs of the birth being imminent nor do we know if she is destined to be early, on time or late but we will simply keep a careful eye on her and look for the usual 'goat' signs. These include slackening of her vaginal opening and a looseness around her tail bones, udder really bagged up, belly dropped and a general restlessness in the goat herself!
Relaxed at Home
We are getting VERY excited although still in despair at the weather. After two lovely days, last night and today we had horrendous rain again. Water poured off the fields and road into our green lane and the poultry paddock looked worse than ever! We really really really do need to get the cows out so we can have the barn for the goats again. We may just have to go for it!!!
