Fertile eggs!!!
Exciting news, we candled our goose eggs today. We had set 24 and so were really chuffed to find 22 of them were fertile and 20 were still growing. It was extraordinary to look at them and see the embryos moving inside. At this stage, day nine, the embryo shape is not discernible as a bird but amazingly in a couple of days it will be. We will continue to take photos although visibility through the shell won’t necessarily be good enough to see all the individual parts – but we will see!
The first photo is day seven of incubation, the second day nine!

We replaced the four with four new eggs, obviously these will hatch later but we will manage this either through using broodies or our second incubator. We haven’t had any goose eggs laid for two days now. We hope our two haven’t stopped!!! They usually lay for a couple of months at least so fingers crossed they start again soon.
