Yet more easterly snow
This morning we awoke to snow, not a lot but more than had been forecast. As is usual with snow it all looked very pretty but our thoughts turned to the shelters and the fact that as with the Beast from the East, we were facing easterly/north easterly winds that were dumping snow inside our buildings. With more snow forecast this afternoon and overnight we realized that the goat shelter needed yet more protection in order to keep dry enough for the goats to sleep in overnight. As the photo shows we put scaffolding netting all across the front, including the doors.
Relaxed at Home
The goats seemed very happy with this new arrangement and when the afternoon snow began, we went and stood inside both sides of the shelter and were delighted that only small wispy bits of snow were occasionally getting through.
Relaxed at Home
The shelters in the 4-acre field were not too bad as they face north and the winds really have been pretty much just easterly this time and crucially, nowhere near as strong.
The cows of course, in the barn, were just fine!!!
