Walking on the snow!
The overnight snow didn’t add too much to the existing layers but the wind had certainly had fun spreading what was there all over the place. Suffice it to say, our field shelters are now more white than brown as in most over half of the straw is now covered in snow. We are going to have a fun weekend clearing all the shelters out as unfortunately, once things start to melt, everything is just going to get very damp. The winds today have thankfully been a lot less strong although the wind chill factor has been just as acute.
Relaxed at Home
All the animals are fine and the sheep in fact were queuing to go back to the 4-acre field firs thing... so we opened up and let them through.
Relaxed at Home
The snow had a very thick crust on it and underneath it was powder dry. The geese were a bit bemused by this as sometimes they feet broke the surface and other times they didn’t. Most of the other animals weren’t bothered, they just made a lot of noise as they walked! And as for the dogs, well they just ran and ran and ran!!!
We are still having to break ice in drinkers and carry water but things aren’t quite as frozen as they were thank goodness. The end is perhaps in sight
