Well, what do we have here? Our first goose egg, as laid by Barbara - who obviously suffered no long lasting effects after her fox encounter - although her choice of nesting place is a tad questionable. Yes, this is the compost heap!!! Ironic that only two days ago we were pondering when we might get our first egg!!
Our task now is to encourage a chicken or two to go broody so we can give them the geese eggs to hatch out!!! This at the moment seems the better option than moving the geese somewhere where they have access to better nesting sites!! Hopefully we may be able to try some natural hatching later when the weather is drier and the geese can have more freedom about where to go!!!
