A Mother's love
When we get up to the cows each day, which we do twice a day, we often find one of them licking the other. It is a very sociable activity for a cow: cows lick their calves and vice versa (as per the photos of Thyme and Caraway) which is all about bonding with each other. Cows will also lick other cows who are in a similar position to them in the pecking order! In our mini herd, the order is Thyme, Parsley, Sage Junior and Caraway. We do see Thyme and Parsley lick each other but cannot recall much licking by or of Sage Junior. Will keep an eye on that!!
Relaxed at Home
Caraway also licks us (if she can) which isn't often as we try not to let her too much. It's not the nicest experience (their tongues are like sand paper) and we are not sure if it might make her ‘too’ friendly as she gets older (and bigger!!). It's much nicer to watch scenes like this!!
