The Good Lifers
The Good Lifers (Barbara, Tom and Margot) are pictured here on the edge of the compost heap. Along with all the other poultry, this is a bit of an attraction for them. And tis no wonder as it teems with life and without too much effort, a quick beak dabble or foot scratch will reveal plenty of tasty morsels very easily!
Relaxed at Home
We are pleased to say that Barbara’s wing goes from strength to strength, it was her right wing that was damaged and although she is still not doing a full stretch with it, we are still seeing a daily improvement.
They are a very placid trio, we are not sure whether this is down to their breed or this particular trio but they do tend to defer to the other birds, even some of the chickens. We do now doubt whether it was them that 'stole' those few ducklings back in the spring. Then again, mating season does change bird behaviour, often dramatically!!
In other news, our gale breaker did not work quite as well as we would have liked on the alpaca shelter and inside did get damp after last night’s sleet and rain. Fortunately we are dry tonight and when the rain returns tomorrow, this time it is from the west so hopefully, it won’t be hitting the shelters with such force anyway!!!
