Pebbles - all going well!
Pebbles is doing really well and today Jack was rewarded with the first ‘kiss’ from her. She is still a bit nervous at times but this evening in the barn, she just walked straight up to Jack and began nibbling her chin and hair!! She is also getting more comfortable about being stroked and chuckled. She still defers to Onion and Sorrel but already she is accepting head butting challenges from them, as opposed to just running away: all entirely normal behaviour in a group of goats learning to adjust to a new member in the herd. She is also starting to eat properly, as opposed to just nibbling at her food and tonight she came over and started to eat with Coriander and Tarragon!!
Relaxed at Home
The goats aren’t going out much or using their field shelter, instead hanging around inside or just outside the barn. Tomorrow, we plan to put the sheep and alpacas back in the double field shelter anyway so the fact the goats aren't really using it is good!!
And in other news, today is of course the first day of winter BUT the start of increased daylight hours from tomorrow. Thank goodness, we are finding it so hard to get everything done during the day and often are finishing things off by torchlight. Our last job of the day is feeding the goats and for that mind you, we have the luxury of the barn and electric lights!! It's lovely to finish the evening rounds like this and Jack always uses it as an excuse to have some ‘chuckle’ time with them: hence her kiss from Pebbles!!! Tis lovely!!
