Seasons and harmony
Today, hooray, hooray, Sorrel came into season AND we also caught this rare moment of affection between her and Onion: very sweet! This is the first season we have seen in either goat and now means we have a date to work towards for when the billy arrives. He is probably due sometime next week and so will need to stay until at least the 15th December as that will be when Sorrel is next due.
Relaxed at Home
She was VERY noisy and Tarragon was ‘very’ interested. He is castrated anyway but we are glad he is not Sorrel’s actual son as his interest in her was very full on!!!
Sorrel seems to have plateaued a little with her weight and ‘poo quality’. We’d still like to see a bit more weight on her and do feel she is poo-ing more than she should be still although the consistency of it is much better! We are not sure if the supplement she is on is making a difference or not! It is meant to encourage better rumen activity but the jury is still out on that one we think!!
She and Onion do get on better now. In fact it is only really at feeding time that Onion gets a bit bossy. After the stress of Curds and Pickle bullying Onion and Garlic, and then Onion and Garlic in turn bullying Sorrel and family, it is great we now have so much more harmony amongst the goats. And now we can start to get excited about kidding too!!!
