Good goat news
It’s all good news on the goat front. We strawed out the barn tonight and all four of them showed their appreciation by eating as much of the straw as possible!!! The 'your hay is in the hay racks' comment seemed to fall on deaf ears – or in Onion’s case here, resulted in a slightly crazed expression.
Relaxed at Home
Sorrel is doing well, she has definitely put on weight, her poo gets ever more normal (although there are still copious amounts of it) and, her udder is now less full of milk and so definitely drying up.
Our billy arrives in a couple of weeks-ish, just as soon as he has had his CAE test!! We are just borrowing him but next year many consider buying one in to keep. If we do it will definitely be an Anglo Nubian and the decision, in part, will depend on what kids we keep. Our main plan is to keep one of Onion's IF of course she has a girl. This is party because we would like to have a Boer/AN cross breed and also because it would be nice for Onion herself to have a close companion. Since Shale went she does mix with the others more but not to the extent of sleeping up close and personal with them. Knowing how close goats are with each other, we do think it would be beneficial for her to have a true bonded companion and a daughter would be perfect. Fingers crossed she has a female next spring then – this year of course all her triplets were boys!!!!
