Poultry dispatch!
Yesterday was another poultry dispatch day as we said farewell to our turkeys and two of the Indian Game cockerels. We still have a good dozen young chickens from this year - the photos show an Indian Game cross on the left and a pure IG on the right - but we couldn’t bring ourselves to dispatch any of these in the end. We will try to sell some before Christmas if we can (which was always the plan) and then any we have left we will take through the winter and sell as layers in the spring!!!

The two cockerels gave us weights of over four and a half pounds dressed, which goes to show why IGs are raised as meat birds or crossed with other large fowl birds such as Light Sussex. And we know they are going to taste great too!!!
