Grazing sheep
We have managed to get all 13 of our sheep in this shot as well as Parsley, who is obviously supervising their grazing technique and making sure they are doing it properly!! This dry weather is just lush although the nights are getting cooler now and we had a 'below six degrees' night last night, our coldest so far this autumn. Six degrees is significant because below that the grass really won’t grow and as such we will probably now see a difference in the fields as they really will now get grazed far quicker than they can grow back.
Relaxed at Home
This week, all the animals together have got through about a bale of hay a day: an indication of how good the grass is still. When the cows are in their Winter Pad, they get through a bale just between the four of them.
And talking of hay, all the stock, even the goats, are now eating the bales from our friend Tim, they had previously refused. We THINK it is because the bales may have dried out a bit but we don't fully understand why this should be! It’s a bit weird really but we are just glad the hay won’t be going to waste!!!
