Yes I have just laid my egg!!!
This is Row, (Hedgerow Broody) who we discovered today laying in the stable store. This photo was taken as she announced her egg to the world and yes it was as deafening as it looks!!
Relaxed at Home
She has taken it upon herself to find a different laying place, almost on a daily basis at the moment - before today she has been trying out all the goat racks for size. We discovered two eggs in a rack in the goats’ double field shelter one day so Row must have a pal who joins her at some stage but we have not quite worked out who that is!!!
We have sold quite a lot of our young poultry this month, 14 ducks to one person today which was good. We need to get our numbers down to a sensible figure before the winter, even if we don’t have a lockdown. As the nights draw in the birds will spend more time inside and we don’t want the stables to be too crowded, plus we don’t want to be overrun with eggs in the spring when most of the females will be back in or start to lay!!!
