Good news, bad news..
Phew: we now have a dozen bales of hay that the animals seem happy to eat!!! The farmer who delivered these is very local and so we will probably use him again. We want to find another supplier as well though, so that we will always have at least two to call on. This is just in case we have the same issue we had yesterday with animals refusing to eat some bales OR, in case one supplier runs out! We still hope to use our friend’s hay - but we will wait a few weeks before seeing if they are okay to eat the bales we have left….
Relaxed at Home
In other (not so good news) news, Sorrell is still very thin and so the vet (this time Rachel) is coming over tomorrow to take some blood and run some tests. It is all a bit worrying and does put all our goat plans into disarray a little.
We trimmed hooves tonight too and Sorrels’ feet aren’t in great shape either – Coriander (pictured) and Tarragon on the other hand are wonderfully fit and healthy with good feet, coats, body conditions...
Likewise Onion and Shale, although Shale has suffered a bit from scald in the last few weeks (wet weather is to blame) but otherwise both him and his mum are great – Shale is in fact a bit of a porker now!! (but we are NOT eating him!!).
