Bacon, after a TWO-year gap
It's quite hard to take a good photo of food whereas taking a picture of the animals is altogether far easier.. BUT the blog today is about food and so we reached a compromise: thus there are two photos!!!
But the real point of the story is that tonight we ate bacon for the first time in two years. This is because we never eat meat that we have not produced and last year we did not get any bacon from our weaners as they went to the abattoir early (due to our move) and as such were not big enough to get a joint for curing.

The bacon was delicious, as was the sausage and eggs (all our own). We cannot claim the chips as we finished ours a while ago and we cannot claim the beans either (hence them being a bit hidden..) The chicken is Row (Hedgerow Broody), one of the eggs may well be one of hers. She is laying 'away' again but this time her chosen space is a goat hayrack so MUCH easier to collect from than the hedgerows where she laid in the spring and summer..
