Elizabeth the Inquisitor!!
This is Elizabeth, one of our two Bourbon Red turkeys. She is the latest to join the Relaxed flock, arriving in March with Napoleon. She was pretty shy when we got her but in recent weeks she has become much tamer and more adventurous. And since last week she now joins Jack each morning when she does the mucking out, following her as she moves around with the Jeyes bucket and pitchfork. If she could talk, we are sure she would be giving us lots of really helpful hints.. the most obvious being: ‘you’ve missed a bit!!!’.
Relaxed at Home
The poultry stables, housing almost 100 birds at the moment takes as long to clean out each morning as all the other tasks put together virtually. It’s a good thing we like our birds!!! The poultry paddock is, like the bottom 3-acre paddock very wet, the mud is not winning yet but we do need to get the new water tank in situ and the overflow from it sorted as the amount of water that pours off the stable roof fills the current water containers in a day with no problem at all. Despite all our planning, winter does seem to have slightly caught us out a bit, mainly cos it seems to have arrived a good two months early!!!
