What is going on?
The alpacas (now in the 4-acre field with the sheep), are a bit unsettled at the moment. Pluto is utterly hopeless about taking his milk still, we have not had any more milky mouths and there has been no sign of him taking any from Venus, but nonetheless his daily intake is down on previous weeks and today he refused the bottle on THREE of his six feeds!
Relaxed at Home
And then there is Neptune who despite being a castrated male (since 2014 in fact), keeps making frequent attempts to mate with Venus. Venus seems happy to let him although we don’t actual think anything is happening other than Neptune just lying on top of her when she is in the 'cush' position. And even if it was, he is castrated!! He does however get very excited and very noisy and interestingly, we have noticed that Jupiter often withdraws from the group at this stage!!
So why is Neptune behaving like this? Why does he seem to have an urge to mate whilst Jupiter does not? The really sad thing though is that Mercury keeps 'flirting' and being all submissive to Neptune (neck down, tail up) and he basically ignores her and turns his attention back to Venus instead!!! We may have to consult the university of Facebook about this one.
