Grapes
We have now harvested our grapes - our first crop and a delicious one to boot. The original small 'grape greenhouse' had an old dessert vine which was in need of some severe pruning together with the construction of supporting uprights and wires. This October/November 2016 job has now paid benefits, and weekly feeding since the spring has helped produce a lovely crop of sweet and juicy grapes ready for the table. We also took a dozen or so hardwood cuttings and planted them in hadopots (polythene plant pots which are a lot cheaper than traditional plant pots, reusable and take little room in the potting shed when not in use). All the cuttings have grown and will be ready to plant out or sell in the few months – though we have little hope of an outside crop here at Cadbury Cottage - our outside grape vine has only produced tiny unripe grapes and autumn is already well underway.
