And here are our ducklings with their three mums. We think there are ten but with three sharp beaks to avoid, counting them is somewhat tricky. They are earlier than we thought – it can be tricky with Muscovies as they tend to sit on their eggs on and off for a few days before the ‘proper’ almost 24/7 sitting begins, so an exact due date can be hard to ascertain. There is also a part of us that wonders whether their development was enhanced due to the extra and often uninterrupted heat! Their arrival brings our duck numbers to just under 40!! Yikes!! The others, now between three and four weeks, are huge and already we are starting to see which might be male and which female. Next month is going to see some serious poultry selling taking place, we hope!!!
