A new path!
Our wet summer has made our ‘gate mat pathway’ in front of the goat field shelter a little less fit for purpose than it was. Basically the mud had started to ooze through and we were spending time each day shaking off the spilt straw before it got stuck in the mats (or dragged off onto the paddock) and then trying to not allow the mud to build up.
Relaxed at Home
Our solution: to extend the woodchip path to run all the way along the front of the entire field shelter!! Our afternoon was thus spent sawing planks to fit, making stakes and then collecting the last of the woodchip from the load Mike dumped for us back in the spring. The fab thing was that the planks and the stakes all came from old wood that was here when we moved and whilst we pay a small amount for it, the woodchip is also a by-product that otherwise is wasted!
And because a picture of a woodchip path is not perhaps the most exciting image to look at, this is a photo of the lovely Coriander, now 4 months old and posing beautifully in tonight’s evening sunshine. The path incidentally is just below her feet!!
