A day of much rain!!
Today we woke up to rain and as we (Jack) types this (11pm), it is still raining!!! There was a dry interlude somewhere in the middle which was spent strawing-out the field shelters as, softies that we are, we could not deny the sheep entry when the weather really was vile!!!
Relaxed at Home
There is no suggestion that this weather pattern is set to change any time soon: we do keep getting the odd dry sunny day but then we revert back to cloud, rain and wind! Still, today’s downpours proved that our garden drainage straight into the poultry paddock ditch is working pretty well and it also provided the ducklings with lots of puddles which they thoroughly enjoyed!! We also ended the day with this rather stunning view!!
And then we have our bad news/good news: none of Victioria's eggs are fertile so it looks as though Napoleon stopped ‘treading’ (i.e. mating) a while ago. We aren’t that worried as with the weather as it is, we are happy not to be hatching more birds now. And the good news: after an initial protest, Victoria quite happily snuggled down on a perch back in the stable. She was quite wet from the rain so another reason not to be too upset that she no longer has to sit on eggs outside!!
