Very smart!!
Ness looks so smart in her 'new' summer coat. When she was shorn it was incredible to see how black her wool is because of course the sun gradually bleaches the wool and it becomes brown. The other thing about her being so dark is that the lines from the shearing don't show up as much as they do on the paler sheep, making her look very well-groomed!!
Relaxed at Home
She is a lovely sheep, they all are and despite hardly ever being given feed at the moment (only used as bribery when we want to move them), all of them are really friendly still. Ness and Muckle come over just for a pet and a chuckle – although we are sure they hope for a bit of feed too.
The lambs are all good too – growing well, some of them are getting very chunky. We won't be getting massive lamb carcasses form the Shetlands but we should be getting the taste!!! Mind you we have a fair few months before we need to start thinking about that route yet, at least four!! The good news though is that a local abattoir that had closed has now reopened under new management and is getting a good press. For us this means a much shorter journey which is exactly what we want for the animals.
